Polls close at 7 p.m. for Santa Rosa County's special election

MILTON —Santa Rosa County’s special election will let voters decide whether or not to continue the half-cent sales tax for 10 years for the Santa Rosa County School District. Polls opened at 7 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m. Visit www.votesantarosa.com for voting information including voting booth locations.

The tax will fund construction of new school district facilities, renovations and additions to existing school facilities, land acquisition, and improvements, and the upgrading and equipping of school facilities for technology according to the ballot.

Nick Holmes said he’s voting for the tax because he feels it will benefit the schools and wants them to do well. Nick and his wife, Sarah, just moved from Kentucky. Sarah is in her first year teaching at Santa Rosa Adult School. Nick said they chose Santa Rosa County over Pensacola because of the quality of schools.
