PACE — Pace Rotary’s March 23 meeting featured Dr. Ricardo Mohammed, who discussed the metabolic, physiological and psychological factors of obesity, as well as the increased risk that obese patients have for other serious conditions like respiratory and cardiac problems, depression and some cancers.
Mohammed, a board-certified bariatric surgeon and the bariatric medical director at Santa Rosa Medical Center, performs minimally invasive bariatric and laparoscopic surgeries to assist qualifying patients with weight reduction.
He spoke with the club about how many insurance companies now cover evaluations, physical therapies and medically supervised diets in addition to surgical options for weight loss.
Pace Rotary meetings are set 7 a.m. Thursdays at Stonebrook Golf Club, 3200 Cobblestone Drive, Pace.
