EAST MILTON — Florida Education Association Secretary and Treasurer Luke Flynt, a middle-school language arts teacher from Indian River, read to students at West Navarre Primary and East Milton Elementary School.  The event was part of Santa Rosa Education Association’s observance of Read Across America.

Read Across America, held annually in conjunction with Dr. Seuss’ birthday, is a celebration of the author’s impact on millions of American school children.

“I am so excited for my children. Anytime we can encourage our students to read and show them how it can be fun, we are doing something special that could make a difference in their lives. I want to thank Santa Rosa Education Association, FEA and my administration for this golden opportunity for my students,” Santa Rosa Education Association member Lisa Carothers said.

Santa Rosa Education Association representatives also visited classrooms at Holley-Navarre Primary and Intermediate schools dressed as characters from Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat.”

In total, 51 classes of Santa Rosa students received readings from Dr. Seuss’ works.
