MEET THE AUTHOR: SHARLA DAWN GORDER: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 8, Pace Library, 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. Gorder, a Pensacola Beach resident and author, will speak and share from her book, "My Vices Collide: A Celebration of Being a Little Messed Up." Her book is a collection of funny and inspirational stories about "being all things to all people at all times and failing beautifully." Copies of her book will be available for sale.

CRAFTY MONDAYS: 2 p.m. March 13, 20 and 27, Navarre Library, 8484 James M. Harvell Road. Recommended for children age 12 to adult. Space is limited, so sign up at the desk to reserve your spot. The Friends of the Navarre Library will provide all supplies.

EXTENSION LECTURE: 10 a.m. March 17, Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents a monthly series on agriculture, the environment, sustainable living, disaster preparation and recovery, 4-H youth development, family and consumer issues, and lawn and garden problems. This month's topic is “Fruit Trees for the Homeowner.”

SPRING BREAK MOVIES: 2 p.m. March 17 and 24, Milton Library, 5541 Alabama St. The Milton Library will host two movies during spring break. On March 17, enjoy a family-friendly tale about the lives our pets lead when we are not home (rated PG). On March 24, join a strange doctor as he learns the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions (rated PG-13). The Friends of the Milton Library will provide refreshments.

PRESCHOOL STORYTIME: Storytime is set March 20 through April 28 as follows:

  • 11-11:30 a.m. Mondays at the Jay Library
  • 11-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Navarre Library
  • 11:15-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays at the Milton Library
  • 11:15-11:45 a.m. Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
  • 11-11:30 a.m. Fridays at the Pace Library

Storytime programs are open to preschool children ages 3-5 and include stories, finger plays and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. To minimize distractions, latecomers will not be admitted.

GAME NIGHT: 3-6 p.m. March 21, Jay Library, 5259 Booker Lane. You can bring your own games from home, or play those provided. Open to all ages, and game groups are welcome. 

TODDLER TIME: Six Wednesdays, beginning 11 a.m. March 22, at the Navarre and Pace libraries. For children 18 to 36 months of age who attend with a caregiver. Toddler Time requires registration at the Navarre Library or Pace Library. Space is limited. Details: Margaret Chatraw, 981-4066.

COFFEE TALK BOOK CLUB: 6:30 p.m. second Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Next meeting is March 8. In honor of Women's History Month, members should read a non-fiction book about any woman and be prepared to discuss their selection. Call the library, 981-7323, to sign up.

ANIMANGA CLUB: 4 p.m. third Tuesdays of each month, Gulf Breeze Library, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Bring your art; discuss techniques of drawing, cartooning, anime and manga art, as well as your favorite titles and artists in those genres. Open to sixth- through eighth-graders.

GRAPHIC NOVEL BOOK CLUB: 5 p.m. third Tuesdays at the Milton Library, 5541 Alabama St. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests and discuss the world of the graphic novel. The March selection is "Mooncop" by Tom Gauld. Speak with a staff member to sign up.

BIBLIOBABBLERS TEEN BOOK CLUB: 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every other month in the Gulf Breeze Library’s meeting room, 1060 Shoreline Drive. Ninth- through 12th-graders who are 14 to 18 years old can discuss the read-of-the-month with friends.

FICTION FANATICS BOOK CLUB: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., fourth Saturdays except in May and November, at the Navarre Library, 8484 James M. Harvell Road. The March selection is "Nine Women, One Dress" by Jane Rosen. Sign-up is required, so drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member about reserving your copy.
