Last call to register before school tax vote

MILTON — Santa Rosa County registered voters can decide in a March 28 special election whether to extend the current half-cent school infrastructure surtax.

However, they need to hurry. Monday, Feb. 27 is the last day to register to vote in the special election. Registration books will close at 5 p.m. Florida law mandates the books close 29 days before an election.

Residents can visit www.votesantarosa.com, call the elections office, 983-1900, or visit the Supervisor of Elections Office, 6495 Caroline St., Suite F in Milton, to obtain a vote-by-mail ballot.

Wednesday, March 22 is the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the special election. All vote-by-mail ballots are due no later than 7 p.m. election night.

If you plan to drop off a vote-by-mail ballot at the South Santa Rosa Service Center, you must return it no later than 5 p.m. March 28.

Santa Rosa County voters can drop off absentee (vote-by-mail) ballots for the special election at these locations:

South Santa Rosa Service Center (Annex), 5841 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 22 through March 27 and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 28

County Administration Building (Milton office), 6495 Caroline St., Suite F, Milton, FL 32570, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through March 27 and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 28

Election Day is March 28 and will be open to all voters living in Santa Rosa County regardless of party affiliation.
