PENSACOLA — Child Guardians Inc. members have purchased Christmas gifts for almost 300 children this year.

The gifts will benefit kids removed from their homes with little or no possessions and placed in foster care or with family members.

The Child Guardians Inc. board consists of 13 volunteers who to raise money and carry out their mission of helping children whose interests are adjudicated in Florida’s Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties.

Child Guardians Inc. aids foster parents in meeting a child’s basic needs. It can take up to 45 days for foster parents to complete the approval process for state funding or financial assistance (other than Medicaid), and usually another 30 days for caregiver relatives to receive benefits.

Funding can cover school clothing, sports uniforms, summer camp, baseball and football camp, school field trips, eyeglasses, dental care, bedding, football uniforms and a summer family pool pass.

In 2014, Child Guardians, Inc. began a scholarship program to sponsor children within their mission to attend the Flight Academy at NAS. Children have continued to receive funding to take part in this experience each following year through the non-profit.
