NAVARRE — Proceeds from the 8th Annual Fool’s Invitational New Year’s Eve Day Golf Tournament, set Dec. 31, will benefit Caring and Sharing of South Santa Rosa County.
The cost to participate is $45 per player (including golf, cart and food afterward). Mulligans, 50-50 and raffles help raise additional money.
The golf tournament, held at The Club at Hidden Creek, began just over 20 years ago with a group of friends who played and raised approximately $500 for Caring and Sharing, a nonprofit organization. In 2009, the event raised over $1,000 for the first time with 14 teams; it raised almost $9,000 in 2015 with 32 teams.
Caring and Sharing assistance includes food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Through its Giving Tree Program at Christmas, children ages 12 and under receive gifts and children 13 through 18 receive gift certificates. To be eligible, families must live in South Santa Rosa County.
All of Caring and Sharing’s board members and less than 4 percent of funds raised go toward administrative costs, according to a media release.
See www.santarosacares.org or call 396-0321 for more information about the organization.
