MILTON — King Middle School students went home with a new pair of shoes on Friday before leaving for fall break.
The footwear comes from a donation program for which Milton First Assembly of God applied. Senior Pastor Dusty Roberts asked that the grant program and shoe company remain anonymous.
KMS is a Title 1 secondary school where more than 75 percent of students receive free or reduced lunches, a requirement for the grant.
In September, representatives from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office and the Milton Police Department volunteered in recording each KMS student’s foot size.
On Friday, several volunteers returned to hand out the shoes to students. Event organizers wanted local law enforcement to take part in volunteering while forging a stronger bond between students and law enforcement.
