PACE — Here’s a look at the Azalea Garden Club’s recent and upcoming events:
Members had the most entries from a garden club at the Pensacola Interstate Fair Flower Show; the club won a blue ribbon & sweepstake award for best garden display. Several members also won blue and red ribbons for table setting, design and plant categories.
In October, the club presented alternative pollinators at the Pace Library; these are not stinging insects. Children who attended made a bee house to take home.
The Nov. 14 club meeting featured growing and cooking with fresh herbs.
“It was our honor to feed and serve the Pace Fire Department lunch, emphasizing their community service,” a club spokesperson said. Many of the dishes contained fresh herbs.
What’s next?
December’s meeting — for current members and their guests — will celebrate the one-year-old club’s accomplishments.
Jean Rognstad will host the Year End party at her home.
“Coming in 2017 we will welcome new members,” the spokesperson said. “We plan presentations on growing potatoes and more alternative pollinators classes at the Pace Library. The club also will be working with a Junior Achievement Group of Girl Scouts.”
April will feature a new-officers installation and a tea; and, in May, members will host the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs’ District I meeting.
