PASTORS AND CHOIR DIRECTORS:  Panhandle Community Theatre will present a Christmas play, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” Dec 1-4 at the Imogene Theatre. Doors open at 6 p.m. to make time for photos with Santa, refreshments and to enjoy the Girl Scouts caroling. "If you will email your information about your Christmas program (musical or drama) to us we will place an insert of your events as a gift to our community," an event spokesperson said. AMERICAN LEGION POST 78 seeks student participants for the American Legion Oratorical Contest. Students in grades nine through 12 may participate as well as 4H, Future Farmers of America and home school. The contest will be 1 p.m. Dec. 3 at Avalon Baptist Church, 4316 Avalon Blvd., Milton. PACE HIGH SCHOOL BAND BOOSTERS’ First Cajun Christmas Festival is 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 10. A 4-6 p.m. benefit concert by Chloe Channell will follow. Vendors are needed; apply at www.cajunchristmasfestival.com or call 375-9243.

JAY HIGH SCHOOL TO HOST COLLEGE AND CAREER EXPO: 8:30-10:35 a.m. Nov. 16 in the JHS gymnasium. The event will feature 25 representatives from businesses, colleges and the military.

THE FLORIDA TRAIL ASSOCIATION’S WESTERN GATE CHAPTER has scheduled these events:

  • Nov. 17: 8 a.m. Florida Trail work: Meet at Blackwater River State Park (north parking lot of Deaton Bridge).
  • Nov. 17: Western Gate Chapter Meeting — 6:30 p.m. social, 7 p.m. meeting at First Christian Church, 6031 Goodrich Drive, Pensacola.
  • Nov. 20: Wake-Up Hike, 8 a.m. at Blackwater Heritage Trail. (Meet at Milton Library, 5533 Alabama St., Milton, Pensacola)
  • Nov. 27: Wake-Up Hike, 8 a.m. at Navy Point Walking Trail (Sunset Avenue and Syrcle Street parking lot)

SANTA ROSA COUNTY CREEK INDIAN TRIBE POW WOW: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 19 and 20 at 4750 Willard Norris Road in Milton. There is no charge for admission or parking.Native American drumming, dancing, flute playing and storytelling will fill the days. There will be over 40 vendors of Native American crafts and other items. Native American fry bread, roasted corn, hamburgers, hotdogs, sausage dogs and soft drinks will be available at affordable prices.

MICHAEL WAYNE SMITH CONCERT: 6 p.m. Nov. 26, Olivet Baptist Church, 5240 Dogwood Drive, Milton.Smith has been performing since 2009. He is well known for his song, “Everything’s Fine,” which helped jettison his career as a solo artist. This year he released his sixth studio album totaling 12 songs, seven of which are original compositions.
