Jay ride to raise money for wreaths on veterans' graves

A Jay family bicycling event will serve as a fundraiser to honor dead Jay area veterans. (Special to the Press Gazette)

JAY — Wreaths Across America, a Veterans Day weekend fundraiser, is set 8 a.m. Nov. 12 at Bray-Hendricks Park. The event includes a 2-mile fun run and a 2-mile family bicycle ride.

Timing and results will be coordinated by running coaches Matthew and Teresa Dobson. The cost is a $20 registration fee per runner and $20 per family in the bike ride.

Proceeds will help pay for wreaths on Jay area deceased veteran's graves. Volunteers will place the wreaths by Dec. 17.

Male and female overall awards will be given in the fun run. First-, second- and third-place ribbons will be distributed in these age groups: 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14, 15- 19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and up.
