MILTON — Here are three things you can do this weekend in Santa Rosa County.
GET RID OF HAZARDOUS WASTE. South Santa Rosa residents can participate in Household Hazardous Waste Amnesty Day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Santa Rosa County South Service Center, 5819 Gulf Breeze Parkway in Midway. Residents can bring up to five regular car or truck tires. Other accepted items include old oil filters, batteries, propane containers, fluorescent light bulbs and fire extinguishers. Up to five gallons of these substances will also be accepted: antifreeze, oil, paint, pesticides, grease, household cleaners, solvents, gasoline, lubricants, fertilizers and pool cleaners. LEARN ALL ABOUT FIRE SAFETY. The Milton Fire Department’s Fifth Annual Fire Prevention Week open house is set for noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at 5321 Stewart St. The event, free to attend, will include food, fun and information on fire safety.
HEAD TO THE FALL FESTIVAL. The 35th Annual St. Rose of Lima International Fall Festival is set for 5-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at 6451 Park Ave., in Milton. In addition to having more than 40 vendors, a farmer's market, live music and carnival rides, games and international foods, the event will feature an 8 a.m. 5K /Walk on Saturday.
