Dear editor,
Nov. 8 is fast approaching; then we can exercise our honor, privilege and duty (to vote). I can’t wait!
Last year a quotation irritated me. Chris Cuomo had the gall to say, “Our rights don’t come from God, your honor, and you know that. They come from man.”
This “honor” was Judge Roy Moore, a gutsy Christian giant, who refused a federal judge’s order to ignore the state constitution. Moore said, “Our rights contained in the Bill of Rights do not come from the Constitution, they come from God.”
Hallelujah! The “old nature” would say, “Hot damn!”
Hillary Clinton said, “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.” She says she will use government force to make you reject your Christian faith! This was during an April 23, 2015, speech delivered at the Women’s World Summit.
My response, and that of many other Christians was, “Over our dead bodies.”
Northwest Florida’s recent primary voter turnout was disgraceful: 25.32 percent.
Of the approximate 201,000 registered to vote in Escambia, about 149,000 voted in the 2012 presidential election. Of the approximate 127,000 registered in Santa Rosa County, about 77,000 cast votes. More who were eligible to vote never registered. How embarrassing — but it’s not too late! They have until Oct. 29 to register.
True Christians should realize they will rule over this entire earth (Rev. 12:5) when Jesus Christ comes again, motivating them, compelling them to vote their faith now!
Matthew 4:4 comes to mind. Jesus told us, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word of God” and having the mind of Christ. The Bible tells us how the Father and Jesus Christ really think about the fundamental issues of life.
My focus is on reminding apathetic Christians of their God-given right. Don’t disappoint God by not registering and then not voting! All Americans should vote — or shut their mouths and quit complaining if they don’t.
If Christian faith matters to them, they should vote their faith and values using the Bible as their guide.
Billy Graham said, “If America is to survive, we must elect more God-centered men and women to public office — individuals who will seek divine guidance in the affairs of State.”
Amen to that!
How important is one vote, your vote?
In 1868, one vote saved President Andrew Johnson from being removed from office.
In 1876, one vote gave Rutherford B. Hayes the presidency of the U.S.
Someone reminded me of the editor’s headline to my letter in the Nov. 8, 1984 Santa Rosa Free Press: “Chrys, and whoever else voted for Reagan should be happy now.”
I was and would be again if “Trump” replaced “Reagan” this year! Hillary has no fear of God!
More important than my happiness is this quotation:
Abraham Lincoln: “I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this book. I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go.
“I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up and say there is no God.”
When was the last time Americans genuflected with hearts open to hear the voice of Almighty God, which is so needed today?
God bless us all, as only He can. Maranatha!
