SPEAK OUT: East Milton firehouse needs improvements

EAST MILTON FIREHOUSE NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS

I am concerned about the East Milton Fire Department on Ward Basin. I went by there and apparently one of the doors came down on one of the trucks. The wall got torn off due to the building being built in the 1960s. The door is old and the building is old. Really, we need a new firehouse. If they can spend an extra $2 million to build a bridge over the bayou in Milton, surely they would have enough money to build East Milton a new firehouse and (get) possibly new equipment. Thank you.

CENTRAL STUDENTS UNDERSERVED

Historically, there is a divide between Milton, Pace and all other schools in Santa Rosa County. It's one where the only students that really are supported are in these two places.

Years ago, they decided that two to three hours of travel was fine for the outlying schools. They closed the two schools, Munson, and Chumuckla, and shipped them to Allentown, making it Central.

So where did the "extra" money go after closing those schools? Milton and Pace would be my guess — Central certainly didn't get any major renovations.

… There has been a lot of new building done in the lower part of the county around Navarre, but the campus and the things available to the Central students, those same students that are bused the longest of any in the county, are woefully insufficient.

ANOTHER HIGH SCHOOL NEEDED

I would hope that they are looking into building another high school. Just in the Milton and Pace area we have seven elementary schools, four middle schools and only two high schools.

JUST WONDERING

When will Munson Highway be repaved? Road is getting bad.

ANTICIPATING MORE COMMUNITY EVENTS

Pastor Mike is such a great man of God with such a big heart doing great things in the community.

It was great getting to know our neighbors and community leaders on ‘Love My Neighbor’ day.

Looking forward to being a part of more events like this in the future.
