27th Annual Peanut Festival coming to Jay

JAY — The 27th Annual Peanut Festival is coming soon to Santa Rosa County.

The event is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 1 and 2 at Gabbert Farm, 3604 Pine Level Church Road. Parking and admission are free for the festival.

The event, part of Santa Rosa County's Beaches to Woodlands Tour, is held in memory of Melissa Caroline Gabbert.

There will be live entertainment both days, gospel music on Sunday featuring Felicia Johnson, Dare to Dream Entertainment, and Jim Lassiter Family and Friends.

In addition, attendees can enjoy displays of antique tractors, wagons, horse-drawn equipment, putt-putt engines and a gristmill.

Activities include pony rides, hayrides, train rides, wagon rides, inflatable rides, rock climbing, mechanical bull riding, bungee jumping, aqua bubbles and farm animals.

Saturday will feature a pig chase at 2 p.m. and antique automobiles. Sunday will feature a 9 a.m. church service, with the Rev. Earl Greene, followed by a pet dress-up parade and contest at 2 p.m.
