LETTER: Grow up, Milton

Dear editor,

The tax for a new courthouse failed for the same reasons it has always failed: location, location, location.

The taxpayers don't want to put a new courthouse in a place that has limited access. Highway 90 is a bottleneck, and has been since 1957, I know, and will not be improved until it's four-laned all the way.

The downtown bunch has and will fight to keep some things the same, but if they want something — in this case a new courthouse — all the taxpayers are supposed to give into their selfish ways.

Then there is the fact that they want to build on a floodplain. Again, their selfish ways come into play.

Grow up, Milton. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

CHARLES WALSINGHAM
