PENSACOLA — When the University of West Florida football team took the field Saturday, it was the first time UWF fielded a football team.
Among the 100-plus athletes on the team, 13 of them are from the Pensacola area. Eleven of them played in the Pensacola Sports Subway All-Star Football game.
The Subway High School All-Star game featured senior athletes from each high school in Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties.
The 10 former Subway High School All-Stars are:

Pensacola Sports has hosted the Subway High School All-Star football game every December since 2004. The game has an alumni of nine current and former NFL players along with dozens of players who have played at the college level.
Pensacola residents and UWF fans and alumni will get the chance to cheer on these young men when UWF makes its home debut at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 10.
The 2016 Subway High School All-Star Football game will take place Friday, Dec. 16 at a location to be determined.
