PACE — The congregation of Woodbine United Methodist Church continues to provide relief to the students and teachers at Central School.
Recently, the church donated more than $5,500 in school supplies including pencils, copy paper and crayons to the kindergarten through 12th grade school. In addition several of the church members even donated printers to the school.
Brenda Lewis, an executive minister at the church , said the relationship with school began two years ago when the church became aware of the school’s needs.
“We found out their teachers were spending a lot of their own money (on supplies),” she said.
Lewis also said the church’s congregation contribution doubled last year’s amount.
According to a church press release, both students and teachers faces were lit up with excitement when presented with the donations, according to the school’s assistant principal Dustin Gray.
Gray said the supplies will help with the student’s education as the school year progresses.
