PENSACOLA — The Naval Aviation Museum Foundation will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the recently renovated Hall of Recognition and a display commemorating the history of Attack Squadron (VA) 52.
The event is 9 a.m. July 22 at the Naval Aviation Museum, 1750 Radford Blvd., Pensacola.
The Hall of Recognition, dedicated to the thousands of individuals and organizations who have made the National Naval Aviation Museum a reality, recently received a six-screen digital donor recognition wall, a large-format touch screen donor kiosk, and a tribute to Attack Squadron (VA) 52, the Knight Riders.
This effort has been made possible by the estate of the late Lt. David A. Webb, USNR, and his wife, Jean Ann Webb, which contributed nearly $1 million to the foundation through the “Wings of Gold Society” planned giving program.
Webb — a former member of VA-52 — and his wife requested that the foundation not only recognize their financial contribution, but also the historical contribution of the entire Knight Rider squadron.
As part of the renovation, the foundation developed a tribute to VA-52, including a mural of a VA-52 A-1 Skyraider and video interviews with former Knight Riders.
Attack Squadron (VA) 52, flying the venerable A-1 Skyraider and A-6 Intruder, served for more than 30 years with the U.S. Navy, and took part in several key operations of the Vietnam War.
