This scenic home once again houses The Shoppe at St. Mary’s. The store recently celebrated returning to its original location.

MILTON — The Shoppe at St. Mary’s is back at its original location, 6849 Oak St.

The store, which offers new and used items, had a grand reopening on Friday to celebrate the occasion.

Ann Odom, who helps oversee operations, said the former location along U.S. Highway  90 developed issues of leaking and the original location, which St. Mary’s Episcopal Church owns, had become available.

Odom said the Shoppe originally opened on Oak Street in February of 2013 and, after a year and half, it moved to a location along U.S. Highway 90 in September of 2015.

Church volunteers began moving out of the Highway 90 location in March. Now, they’re back on Oak Street.

The store offers a variety of donated items including clothing, books and furniture, among other things. Some the more popular items include kitchen items.

“We can’t keep pots and pans — they go out as fast as they come in,” Odom said. “Sets of dishes are pretty popular, too.”

While The Shoppe’s proceeds do benefit St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, they also aid community outreach, Odom said.

“This last year, we gave the Pregnancy Resource Center more than $1,100,” she said.

A board of church members annually decides which local organization will receive a portion of The Shoppe’s funds.

The Shoppe is entirely volunteer-operated, and Odom said it could use more help, and volunteers don’t have to be church members.

For now, she said, volunteers are just glad to be back on Oak Street.

“Everybody loves this little blue house,” Odom said.
