Jury finds Milton man guilty of sexual battery, molesting a child

MILTON — A Santa Rosa County jury found Kyle Devin Pearce, 30 of Milton, guilty of sexual battery upon a child less than 12 years of age and guilty of lewd or lascivious molestation upon a victim less than 12 years of age, State Attorney Bill Eddins announced.

Pearce committed the crimes upon the 6-year-old victim on April 11, 2015 in a home where one of Pearce’s friends babysat the child, according to a media release from Eddins’ office. The child reported the abuse immediately to the babysitter, who promptly reported the crime to law enforcement.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 11 before Judge Ross Goodman. Pearce faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

The investigation was conducted by Detective Duron Nelson of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and the case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Stephanie G. Pace.

Pearce’s mug shot was unavailable as of this writing.
