During the past week, crews on the Navarre Beach renourishment project continued filling the fourth and final segment, including restoration of dunes. Approximately 210,000 cubic yards of sand (enough to fill close to 11,700 dump trucks) were pumped on the beach, bringing the total renourishment to over 1.2 million cubic yards since the project began. As of June 17, 209 turtles have been relocated outside the borrow area.
The contractor will likely complete filling of segment four on June 18. Crews will then break down pipe and remove the subline by June 22, loading trucks with equipment to transport to Pensacola Beach.
