Repairs in the works for Berryhill Road

PACE — A 3-mile segment of Berryhill Road, resurfaced in February, has failed in several areas.

The top layer of asphalt slipped off in sections, due to a tack failure. Tack is the term for the tar-like layer applied between asphalt layers to promote adhesion between the two.

The contractor, Roads Inc. of Northwest Florida, was notified of the first observance and repairs in that location were made.

Over the next few weeks, additional areas failed in these locations:

●East of Berrybrook Circle and west of Windrun Place

●From Greenfield Street east to Tilubol Lane

●From Windermere Trace to east of Twin Oaks Drive

●East of Luther Fowler Road

The contractor has agreed to repair the segments at no cost under the one-year warranty.

Santa Rosa County staffers and consultants will reinspect the Berryhill Road in early June and identify new problem areas.

The contractor will then repave and restripe those roadway segments after school is out of session.

The work is anticipated to take no longer than three days to perform, weather permitting.
