MILTON – Six tractor plow units and multiple local fire departments are battling the Dickerson City fire between Avalon Boulevard and Garçon Point Road south of Mary Kitchens Road according to Joe Zwierzchowski, with the Florida Forest Service. He said dry conditions, soft soils and heavy vegetation are making containment extremely difficult. Acres and cause are unknown at this time.
UPDATE – Santa Rosa County Public Information Officer Brandi Whitehurst said crews are making progress but will be ons cene for a while as they are still working to contain the fire but conditions have improved.
