MILTON — W.H. Rhodes Elementary School celebrated South American culture during their annual arts festival, themed “South of the Border.”
Students on Friday listened to mariachi music from Duo Aces de Alabama, made piñatas, tasted Mexican cuisine, created Mexican-themed artwork and observed wildlife from Reno’s Reptiles.
“A lot of our children cannot afford to go to these places, so I bring it to them,” Toni New, the school’s art teacher, said. “It’s like a giant field trip in the middle of the day.”
Milton High School’s Spanish Club, National Art Honors Society and Student Government Association students offered assistance.
