Escambia health centers get $1 million boost in federal funding

PENSACOLA — The Department of Health and Human Services will provide $10,718,230 in funding to 12 Florida health centers for facility renovation, expansion or construction.

Escambia Community Clinics Inc., in Pensacola, is among the award recipients. ECCI was awarded $1 million.

Health centers will use the funding to increase their patient capacity and to provide additional comprehensive primary and preventive health services to medically underserved populations in Florida.

The funding comes from the Affordable Care Act’s Community Health Center Fund, which was extended with bipartisan support in the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015.
