PENSACOLA — Nineteen Panhandle girls have earned the most prestigious award that Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors can earn, the Girl Scout Gold Award.

Recipients include Girl Scouts who successfully completed a project that is measurable and sustainable, affects the community outside of Girl Scouts, and has a global component.

These Pensacola residents earned the 2016 Gold Award for their Take Action projects:

●Siena Munz, Emerald Coast Science Center Amphitheatre Project

●Jasmine Penton, Teen Girls Self Defense Class

●Katelyn Stegall, The Snoezelan Cart

●Elizabeth Watkins, Love in a Pillow Sack “LIPS”

●Emily Williams, Stress Less Ronald McDonald House

“The process for a girl to earn her Gold Award is extensive and includes analysis, decision making, planning and implementation of a Take Action service project,” stated Raslean M. Allen, Girl Scout Council of the Florida Panhandle Inc. chief executive officer.

“Their accomplishments reflect leadership and citizenship skills that will distinguish them in the college admissions process, scholarships and, because of this achievement, they enter the military one rank higher.”
