MILTON — Locally grown, fresh produce is now available at a farmers market sponsored by the Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County’s WIC program.
The market is open 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, until May 10, in the parking lot of the Healthy Start Coalition, 5505 Stewart St. in Milton, next door to the health department. After May 10, the market will be open 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, through the end of July.
WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons will be accepted by USDA certified vendors.
“We are happy to be able to host the farmers market again this year,” said Dede Barrett, operations and management consultant with the DOH-Santa Rosa WIC program. “We encourage everyone to come out and support local farmers.
“Our farmers will accept WIC coupons, but you don’t have to participate in the WIC program to take advantage of the opportunity to purchase fresh, healthy produce.”
