PENSACOLA — Emmanuel Christian Warriors, from Dothan, Ala., have earned the No. 1 seed in the Panhandle Christian Conference Softball Championship.

The Warriors defeated the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors 4-0 this past weekend in the East Region tournament.

The PCC softball championship will be played April 29 and 30 in Loxley, Ala. The Warriors will play the West Region’s No. 2, Atmore Christian, and the Lady Conquerors will play the West Region’s No. 1, Central Christian of Robertdale, Ala.

WFBA defeated Aletheia Christian, out of Pensacola, 15-0, Friday evening, to earn the game versus Emmanuel, the East Region regular-season champions.

Emmanuel and WFBA were scoreless through two innings, with runners on first and third, when the first run was scored via an illegal pitch by the Conquerors.

The third was finished with no further damage, but three Conqueror errors in the bottom of the fourth fueled three Warrior runs.

Jessica Lunsford's 4-0 loss came with one earned run on five hits, four strikeouts and no walks.

Three of the five hits were by Elizabeth Vickers and the other two by Kaitlyn Braswell and Madelyn Rice.

Braswell got the complete game shutout for Emmanuel with nine strikeouts, one walk and two hits: one by Lunsford and the other by Ayanna Kelker.
