PENSACOLA — West Florida Healthcare will offer a free seminar, “New Approaches for Gallbladder Problems,” 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at the West Florida Medical Group office.
David Tenniswood, M.D., general surgeon with West Florida General Surgery, will discuss the gallbladder, a pear-shaped organ under the liver that stores a digestive fluid called bile.
Bile moves from the gallbladder to the small intestine through tubes called the cystic duct and common bile duct. Gallstones, a common condition of the gallbladder, are caused when substances in the bile (such as cholesterol, bile salts, and calcium) form hard particles that block the passageway to the gallbladder. Other gallbladder conditions include cholecystitis, gallbladder polyps and cancer of the gallbladder.
The office is located at 4262 Woodbine Road in Pace.
