Lawmen seek man accused of repeatedly sexually abusing boy

Christopher Jason Traffanstead

GULF BREEZE — Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 39-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile.

Christopher Jason Traffanstead, of Gulf Breeze, is wanted for three felony charges for sexual assault and lewd lascivious behavior on a male juvenile.

A search warrant was served on Tuesday at the suspect’s home located at 1516 Woodlawn Beach Road in Gulf Breeze. Rich Aloy, public information officer with SRSO said they collected evidence at the home, but Traffanstead was not there.

“So now we’re looking for him,” he said.

According to the warrant, SRSO interviewed the victim on March 31, who said that Traffanstead did “sexual stuff” to him.

There was more than one incident. The graphic report indicated that Traffanstead allegedly used lubricants and sex toys to abuse the juvenile. There is also an incident when he handcuffed the victim to the bed frame.

The victim said Traffanstead used an app on his phone to track another adult’s location. He stated abuse would occur “every time (redacted) would leave.”

The abuse occurred around twice a week for a certain period of time in the victim’s house and the suspect’s home. Traffanstead would give the victim “weird candy things” described as being small, oval-shaped candies in different colors, which made the victim feel “dizzy and light-headed,” according to the report.

When asked if he was ever hit by Traffanstead, the victim said “If I refused I would.” The suspect would also hit him if he refused to kiss him. The suspect would put the juvenile in an ice bath “for a few hours” to reduce signs of abuse.

The victim said he didn’t come forward before because he was never asked and that he was embarrassed.

The warrant reports Traffanstead was arrested for child abuse in October 2015. He is 6’1 and weighs approximately 235 pounds.

Aloy said SRSO generally does not release warrants, but because of the egregious charges, they’re hoping to get the word out to the public.

Anyone with information on the Traffanstead’s whereabouts are urged to call CrimeStoppers at (850) 437-STOP.
