A steady stream of visitors flowed through the Guy Thompson Community Center, for a St. Patrick's Day Milton Senior Expo. Attendees took advantage of a number of vendor offerings from medical screenings, to retirement home information, to financial education and more.

In the nearby meeting room, Santa Rosa Medical Center offered a number of medical services including skin screenings, weight and BMI checks, grip strength tests, cholesterol and blood glucose tests, eye checks for glaucoma, blood pressure checks, and hearing exams.

Dr. Jason Boole, one of Santa Rosa County's newest medical professionals, met expo attendees here. According to Amanda Saveikonis, director of marketing and volunteer services for Santa RosaMedicalCenter, Boole joined the medical staff of Santa RosaMedicalCenter in January and is now offering a wide variety of medical services that haven’t previously been available in the area.

In a press release from her, she said, "Santa Rosa Medical Center has made a $400,000 investment upgrading or Operating Rooms to accommodate Dr. Boole’s surgical capabilities," including several state-of-the-art systems. "Dr. Boole is an asset to our medical community and now provides services at our hospital that allow residents to stay here in Milton/Pace for more of their care."

City of Milton Mayor Wes Meiss visited the Milton Senior Expo and was impressed with the number of vendors. He also said he hopes the community center will achieve its national senior center certification soon, which he said will open up new opportunities.
