A four-year-old child from Pace is in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on Sunday night. According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, the child was struck by a 2007 Ford Explorer traveling west on U.S. Highway 90 on the outside lane.
The child was walking northbound away from the Simpson River Fishing Pier and subsequently into traffic on the west bound lanes of U.S. Hwy. 90, shortly after 6 p.m. when the incident occurred.
The vehicle was driven by Pace resident James Franklin Nance, 39, and the left front side of his vehicle struck the child. The child was taken to the Sacred heart Hospital in Pensacola.
No charges are pending in this incident.
