Sheriff’s Office announces 2016 Citizen Law Enforcement Academy

Residents interested in learning about the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s will have an opportunity with the upcoming Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy, beginning on April 14.

According to a press release, the nine class course will give residents the opportunity to learn about the law enforcement agency through educational classes which provide hands on experience and demonstrations for several of the sheriff’s office departments including patrol division, SWAT, narcotics, K-9 unit, crime scene unit, firearms and more.  

Seating is limited for the academy which will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month. Applications are available for download online at www.santarosasheriff.org, or by contacting the SRSO Crime Prevention Unit at (850) 983-1236. Must be at least 18 years old to apply, the academy is open and free to all residents, according to the press release. Pre-registration closes on March 17.
