Library Closures

Santa Rosa County Libraries will be closed Friday and Saturday, March 25 and 26 in observance of Good Friday. Libraries will resume normal business hours on Monday, March 28.

Tax Aide

Volunteers from AARP Tax-Aide will be assisting with taxes at three Santa RosaCounty libraries through April 15. The AARP Tax-Aide program is the nation's largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, providing service to millions of low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Patrons are served on a first come-first served basis. Preregistration is not accepted and space is limited, so arrive early! Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Milton Library

Tuesdays and Wednesdays 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Storytime

Santa Rosa County Libraries provide storytime for 3 to 5 year olds who are able to attend without a caregiver during the following times from March 21 through April 29:

* 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library

* 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library

* 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library

* 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library

* 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times.

Genealogy Research Assistance – Milton Library

Mondays 9 a.m. – noon

On Mondays from 9 a.m. until noon, library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St., to give general genealogy research guidance; one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers; and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.

Family Movie Favorites – Jay Library

March 1, 5 p.m.

Meet at the Jay Library on the first Tuesday of every month at 5 p.m. and enjoy a Family Movie Favorite. You'll marvel at this month's ant sized hero. This program is free and open to the public. The Jay Library is located at 5259 Booker Ln.

Relaxing With Coloring – Gulf Breeze Library

March 4, 10 a.m.

Looking for a way to reduce some stress, relax, and release your creativity? Join us for an hour of morning of fun on the first Friday of every month at 10 a.m. Coloring is for the young and the young at heart. This program is free and open to adults 18 and older. Advance registration is not required. Supplies and coffee are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.

Read Across America Family Storytime

March 5, 10 a.m.

Jay, Gulf Breeze, Milton, Navarre, and Pace Libraries

In honor of Read Across America, volunteers from the Pensacola Little Theater will present a special storytime and craft. Listen to the story of a princess named Elizabeth and a perfect prince named Ronald. A dragon destroys Princess Elizabeth's kingdom, kidnaps her Ronald, and burns all her clothes so that she has no choice but to wear a paper bag. Will Elizabeth find the dragon and rescue Prince Ronald? Follow the Paper Bag Princess on her journey to find out. Participants are encouraged to dress as a favorite royal storybook character. *The story will be presented by Ms. Linda at the Jay Library. This program is free and open to the public.  In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times.

Teen Tech Week Coding Workshop

In recognition of Teen Tech Week, you can learn the basics of coding at the Gulf Breeze and Pace Library. It's not as difficult as you might think. This workshop is designed for beginners with little or no prior programming. Get the tools to get started. With practice, you'll be able to build your own games, design websites, manipulate audio and video files . . . the possibilities are endless! Seating is limited, so you must register online at the library's online calendar at www.santarosa.fl.gov/libraries.

Movie Matinee – Navarre Library

March 8, 2 p.m.

Join fellow movie lovers on the second Tuesday of every month at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. In this month's movie, you'll watch as a poor boy gets a job working for his rich uncle and ends up falling in love with two women. Each program is open to the public and there is no charge or registration required. MakerSpace – Pace Library

March 9, 4 p.m.

A MakerSpace is a place where creative people can gather, create, invent, and learn. Debbie del Tejo will lead an imaginative MakerSpace workshop at the Pace Library. March Into Spring with this month's creation. This workshop is free and open to patrons who are in the 5th – 8th grades. All supplies are provided. CoffeeTalkBookClub-Gulf Breeze Library

March 9, 6:30 p.m.

The nonfiction book club meets at the Gulf Breeze Library study room on the second Wednesday of every other month. In honor of Women's History Month, participants will choose a book about an inspirational woman to discuss. Please call the library or drop by to sign up and speak to a staff member about details. Bereavement Support – Navarre Library

March 11, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

A series of meetings are held at the Navarre Library on the second and fourth Fridays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Due to the Good Friday Holiday, there will only be one meeting this month. The sessions address grief support and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving the loss of a loved one. All materials are provided and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

READ Dogs – Pace Library

March 12, 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Come, Sit, Stay and Read with a furry friend in the Pace Library. Registration is required. The program is held on the second Saturday of each month at the Pace Library located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. Contact the Pace Library for more information or to sign up.

Hospice Hour – Navarre Library

March 16, 10 a.m.

A series of hospice programs are held at the Navarre Library. Melissa Tidwell of Emerald Coast Hospice explains how hospice and home health care services work, what types of services are provided, and when hospice or home health care services might be beneficial. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd.

Third Fridays with UF/IFAS Extension – Gulf Breeze Library

March 18, 10 a.m.    

The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your life. They can provide information about agriculture, the environment, sustainable living, disaster preparation and recovery, 4-H youth development, family and consumer issues, and lawn and garden problems.  This month's topic is Butterflies and Butterfly Gardening. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr. 

Animation Club – Gulf Breeze Library

March 21, 2 p.m.

Learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment. The Animation Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. Bring your art, discuss techniques of drawing, cartooning, anime and manga art, as well as your favorite title and artists in those genres. The Animation Club is open to youth in grades 6 – 8. Registration is not required. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Dr.
