William Robbie Temples, 27, of Navarre remains in the Santa Rosa County Jail with $10,500 bond after facing charges of robbery and battery following an incident Sunday night at the Publix on Navarre Parkway. According to his arrest report with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, Temple is accused of robbing and hitting a woman outside the store.
After receiving the call from dispatch, deputies arrived to get a description of the suspect along with details of the incident. Using the woman’s description, deputies located Temples near Fourth Street and Blue Tip.
According to the report, the woman told deputies Temples approached her outside the Publix grocery store while she was looking at flowers. Temples allegedly asked the woman for a cigarette, and she told him she did not smoke. The woman told deputies Temples then began to make small talk while asking about places to go around town. The woman then told Temples she would continue to go shopping inside the store, when Temples asked her to buy some cigarettes for him. The woman said Temples told her he was unable to purchase cigarettes himself, due to not having his driver’s license at the time.
The woman agreed to buy Temples cigarettes while inside the store. On her way out, the woman said she did not immediately see Temples and walked to her vehicle. The report states the woman then saw Temples across the parking lot and yelled for him stating she got cigarettes for him.
Temples offered to pay the woman for purchasing the cigarettes. However, the woman denied taking any payment. According to the report, Temples then asked the woman if she did drugs and knew of where to get some. The woman told Temples she did not. From there Temples allegedly told the woman he had a gun, while having his hand in his shorts pocket. While the woman said she did not see a weapon, she believed Temples did have a firearm.
The woman told deputies Temples then asked for the woman’s wallet which had her driver’s license, debit and credit cards, and cash. Temples then allegedly struck the woman in the head with what she believes was his cell phone. According to the report, Temples then told the woman, he was going to watch her leave and if she was going to contact law enforcement, he would find her with the information on her driver’s license. In the sworn statement, the woman said she did drive off only to return 5 to 10 minutes later and did not see Temples anywhere. Temples then notified law enforcement.
In the report, deputies described Temples as “sweating extensively” at the time and told deputies he had did meth the day prior to the incident.
