Things to Do: Pensacon and more this weekend

Pensacon is happening this weekend for Sci-Fi lovers. Charlee Beckett turned herself into a female Aquaman, DC superhero and the logo for Pensacon 2015.

This upcoming weekend has activities for residents of all ages including the first ever Gulf Coast Music Festival at the Santa Rosa Fair Grounds, Pensacola’s Comic Convention and a health and wellness event for area senior citizens.

Gulf Coast Music Festival

Dark Horse Productions is presenting the first-ever Gulf Coast Music Festival Saturday at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds in East Milton on Bobby Brown Road. Residents are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and picnic blankets while enjoying live music from local performers including:  Soul’d Out, Lauren King, Dakota Green, David Jones, The Kyle Brooks Band, MadLove and Dinosaur Daze. Pensacon: Pensacola Comic Con

Thousands of science fiction, horror, fantasy  and comic book fans are expected to be in attendance for this weekend’s Pensacon, which will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Pensacola Bay Center, Crowne Plaza Hotel, the Rex Theatre and the Saenger Theatre. In addition to meeting popular artists, actors, cosplayers, writers, wrestlers and more, attendees will also be able to take place in workshops, tournaments, ‘Sci-fi Speed Dating’ and many other activities. 17th Annual Health and Wellness Day at Sacred Heart Hospital

The Sacred Heart Senior Spirit program is hosting its 17th Annual Health and Wellness Day at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola on Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Greenhut auditorium.  Sacred Heart is located at 5151 N. 9th Avenue in Pensacola. The event will offer free health screenings and wellness education to seniors age 55 an older. Some of the health screenings, for blood pressure and cholesterol, will require fasting for at least eight hours. Attendees will also be eligible for door prizes at the event which is free and open to the public.
