Four teens charged in weekend robbery attempts

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office charged four teenagers in reference to several burglaries which occurred over the weekend. According to press release from the SRSO, Brendan Divonte McClendon, Ian Kendre Garland, D’Andre Keyshawn Jones and Cynthia Selena Rogers are facing charges for the part each played during a robbery activities which occurred  in the early morning hours of Saturday.

A failed armed robbery attempt occurred at 3 a.m. at the Circle K location on 2665 Avalon Boulevard in Milton. According to the press release, witnesses said an individual was seen walking up the entrance of the business wearing a dark “hoodie” and a mask. However, the individual never made entry and left in a pickup truck. The vehicle left the scene before deputies arrived at the location.

An hour later, deputies were dispatched to the Circle K on Quintette Road in Pace in reference to a robbery. Video footage from the scene showed the suspect wearing a dark “hoodie,” a camouflage vest, dark gloves and a bandana – concealing a portion of their face – enter the business carrying a blue pipe with a black bag. The suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Brendan Divonte McClendon, brandished the pipe and demanded “everything,” according to the report.

The report states McClendon threatened to strike the clerk, however the confrontation ended with McClendon fleeing the store with nothing.

Following the incident deputies sent out a ‘Be On the Lookout’ to deputies for the suspect vehicle, the black pickup truck. A traffic stop was then conducted on the suspect vehicle in which McClendon and three other individuals were found inside the cab.

Deputies found the bag, the blue pipe, the gloves and the bandana inside the vehicle along with McClendon wearing the same clothing witnessed in the video footage and matching the suspect’s description. When questioned, deputies state McClendon initially gave a false identity. McClendon also denied any involvement into the incident.

McClendon’s arrest report also suggests his connection to another robbery which occurred in Pensacola on the same night. The black bag used in the Santa RosaCounty attempts was stolen in the Pensacola attempt. Deputies also found tobacco products in the vehicle which are also believed to have been taken in the Pensacola incident.

McClendon is currently being held at the Santa Rosa County Jail with charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and giving false identification to a law enforcement officer.

D’Andre Keyshawn Jones, 19, was also in the vehicle and was identified Jones as a suspect in a Circle K robbery which took place in Pensacola. Jones was identified by the clothing he was wearing which matched the description in the Pensacola Police Department’s report.

Ian Kendre Garland, 18, who was driving the pickup truck, has also been linked to the Pensacola robbery due to his clothing.  Garland denied any involvement in any of the robberies, according to his arrest report.

Cynthia Selena Rogers, 18, was also in the cab of the suspect vehicle was also identified in the truck during the Pensacola, Pace and Milton robberies. The arresting deputy believes she had full knowledge of the unlawful activities and was aware of what was happening at the time.

All four remain in custody at the Santa Rosa County Jail.
