Republican Party used to be the end result of the American dream

Dear Editor,

Some of us, over the last 50 years, considered the Republicans the party of the brains, moral character, leadership and the party of the well-to-do. In America, it seemed like the GOP were the end result of the American dream, “work hard and you will succeed” party. Dwight Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan symbolized this characterization.

Currently, we are consumed with daily murders, societal immorality, instant gratification mentality, infrastructure deterioration, family breakdown, and constant racial agitation. Where are our political leaders?

The current system of Democrats and Republicans in Washington, D.C. were judged by the American people to be inept. Politics today is envisioned to be all about insider fighting and nothing about intelligent compromise and innovative and timely solutions.

For the Republican Party, Donald Trump seems to be their answer. In my opinion, Trump is the screaming baby in the crib who demands attention and throws his toys until he’s pacified. As long as he is catered to, he’s in charge. As the grown up baby, he now offers instant solutions to everything and is reprimanded by all his peers for being a dreamer and a radical. Since his temperament forces him to demean other’s views and assassinate their character, the public stands up and applauds his aggressiveness and decisiveness. Trump really makes great press, he’s good at research and is making politics exciting to a generation of American spectators.

So, what’s a moral, conservative, proud republican to do?

I expect nothing. America may give Donald Trump a chance to run for the GOP until it can redefine itself. He will be the new poster boy for a Republican leader. And now, Sarah Palin may be in the picture with him. Thanks, John McCain. God help us.
