State Attorney Bill Eddins announced Normond L. Hale was sentenced Thursday by Circuit Judge John Miller, Count One to life in state prison with a 25 year minimum mandatory, Count Two to life in state prison with a 20 year minimum mandatory, and Count Three to 15 years in state prison. Each sentence is to run consecutive. Hale was convicted on December 10, 2015 by a Santa Rosa Jury for two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder with a Firearm and for Shooting within a Building.
The crimes occurred on Hartington Drive in Navarre on June 6, 2014. On that date, the defendant went to the residence with a .357 revolver tucked into his pants. During an argument with the primary victim, who was his ex-girlfriend, he shot himself through the jaw with the revolver. Shortly thereafter, Hale shot the victim three times in rapid succession inside the house. He then exited the house to fire the remaining two shots from the 6-shot revolver at a man who had been visiting the victim. The primary victim survived her injuries due to life-saving treatment at Baptist Hospital. The second victim was uninjured.
The investigation and arrest were conducted the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
