For Santa Rosa County residents looking to get out of the house on the weekend, take note of a few upcoming events happening at the end of this month and early February.
MHS Marching Band hosts comedy hypnotist show (Friday at 7p.m.)
The Milton High School Mighty Black and Gold marching band invites residents to attend and possibly take part during Larry Greenberg’s Comedy Hypnotist Show Friday evening starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door at the school or by calling 983-5611.
This event, which serves as a fundraiser for the MHS Mighty Black and Gold Band, will also feature a sneak preview of the band’s Black Gold Percussion indoor drumline and the Winterguard ensembles in the gym.
Woodstoke Pottery and Kiln Festival (Saturday, February 6)
The Gulf Coast Kiln Walk Society Inc., will be hosting the 2016 Woodstoke Pottery and Kiln Festival on Saturday, February 6. The event, which starts at 9 a.m. and lasts until 3 p.m., takes place at the Anagama kiln site in Holley, near the corner of Highway 87 and Buckeye Drive.
The community event, which begins at 9 a.m. with a kiln dedication, will feature a exhibition of potters work in which some of their artwork will be for sale.
This year’s festivities will feature a seafood cook-off sampling and a commemorative souvenir bowl to be used for the samplings will be sold for $10. Prizes will be awarded to the best dishes. Chili, provided by the Santa Rosa Arts and Culture Foundation, and desserts will also be available.
Two historical wood-fueled kilns will be unloaded during the festival unveiling creations from many different potters. Attendees are allowed to assist with the unloading should they wish to.
The Color Vibe 5K Run (Saturday, February 27)
The colorful 5K run and walk event, the Color Vibe 5K, will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, February 27 at 9 a.m. The event will be held at the Vince J. Whibbs Maritime Park Amphitheatre, located at 301 W. Main Street in Pensacola. Tickets can be purchased online at www.thecolorvibe.com.
