Although the temperatures are not expected to drop below 40 degrees on Christmas Eve, Ferris Hill Baptist Church will open their cold weather shelter for the homeless and heatless.
According to the Santa Rosa County Public Information Office, church volunteers will serve a Christmas Eve dinner on Thursday evening and breakfast the following morning.
Those needing to stay at the shelter, located at 6848 Chaffin Street in Milton, should arrive between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. No one will be admitted after 8:30 p.m. unless brought in by law enforcement, according to the press release. The shelter closes at 7 a.m. the following morning.
