Kimmons sentenced to 35 years for sexual battery

After being convicted of sexual battery by a Santa Rosa County jury in October, Steven Earl Kimmons was sentenced to 35 years in state prison as a habitual felony offender and designated as a sexual offender by a circuit judge on Tuesday, according to a press release from State Attorney Bill Eddins Office.

In July of 2014, Kimmons was arrested after a 44-year-old mentally challenged woman disclosed Kimmons had sexually battered her with an object in April of the same year.  The victim suffered visible injuries and Kimmons’ DNA was found on her body, according to the press release.

Kimmons is also facing a charge of homicide in Okaloosa County.
