State Attorney Bill Eddins Office announced Tahj Halique Jones, 17, has been charged with second degree murder, attempted first degree premeditated murder with a weapon and home invasion robbery with a firearm following the November 29 homicide on Woodville Road in Bagdad.
According to the press release, Jones was charged as a result of his involvement in a home invasion which resulted in the shooting death of Raymond Allen Everett while the second victim Wesley Simmons was seriously injured.
Jones, who was 17 years of age at the time the crime was committed, will be treated as an adult in this case.
Charges against a second juvenile arrested in this case have been dismissed, according to the press release. Reports said charges were dismissed as a result of the surviving victim changing his testimony as to the identity of the second shooter.
Earlier reports from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s office identified Niquise Xzavon Slack, also age 17, as the second suspect in the incident.
The investigation as to the other individual involved in this crime is continuing.
