Citizens should put litter in its place

Dear Editor,

My family and I have started using the sidewalk around Spencer Field for our morning fitness routine.  We park at Benny Russell Park and begin our walk. What saddens us is the amount of trash we observe as we walk.  We started taking a plastic bag with us and picking up the trash, but soon realized we needed a garbage bag instead.  Now that we have increased our program to running it is no longer possible for us to stop and pick up garbage.  I used the facilities at the park and was astonished at how trashy the place has become. Paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor, toilets left  not flushed.  Really this is a horrible testimony to women.  I hope your children didn't see you throw your hygiene items on the floor.  The state prisoners clean those facilities and I have used it after cleaning and it was sanitary and fresh smelling.  The  worse offenders are those who eat at Whataburger with McDonalds running second. Throwing trash from your car is such a bad example to children for they will follow our lead.  Please people of Santa Rosa let us be better citizens, respecting property and showing our appreciation by maintaining it in a clean condition.
