Following the success of their first-ever ‘Bounce-O-Rama’ at S.S. Dixon Primary School last year, the school’s parent teacher organization is once again inviting area families to bring their children to the community event on Saturday at the school’s recreational field. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the school in replacing playground equipment and supporting a snack program for students in need.
In addition to providing better playground equipment for the first and second graders at the school, the school is also starting a healthy snack program to benefit students who are unable to bring their own snacks to school.
Aggie Pabst, the PTO’s vice president and one of the event organizers, said several of the school’s teachers currently pay out of pocket in order to make sure all of their students have a snack during the school day. The PTO will have a donation box at the event where attendees can drop off a donation which can include crackers, Nutri-Grain bars, pretzels, applesauce packets, among other healthy snack items.
In addition to the food and refreshments available along with other activities, Bounce-O-Rama will also raffle off prize baskets. The PTO has increased the number of baskets from around 70 in last year’s event to more than 100 this year.
Pabst said many of the themed baskets will feature passes to many popular theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios, the Kennedy Space Center and more. These baskets will also feature gift certificates and prizes donated by local businesses. Plus, fans of the National Football League will have a chance to win a autographed football signed by the star players of the New Orleans Saints including Drew Brees, Mark Ingram, Marques Colston and Brandin Cooks.
Pabst said participants are not required in order to stay throughout the event in order to claim their prize, the PTO will contact each winner not present.

COST: Adults and children, ages two and younger, get in free. A $10 entry fee is required for children ages three and older.
