In addition to facing up to 30 years in state prison, Milton resident Steven Earl Kimmons will also be designated as a sexual offender after recently being convicted of sexual battery by a Santa Rosa County jury. The jury convicted Kimmons on Tuesday, according to a press release from State Attorney Bill Eddins Office.
Kimmons was arrested in July of 2014 after a 44-year-old mentally challenged woman, disclosed Kimmons had sexually battered her with an object in April of the same year. In addition to finding visible injuries, Kimmon’s DNA was found on the woman’s body, according to the press release.
According to the state attorney’s office, Kimmons prior criminal record includes accessory to robbery, failure to appear, grand theft auto, resisting an officer without violence, possession of a controlled substance, driving while license suspended and petit theft.
Kimmons is also facing a charge of homicide in Okaloosa County.
Kimmons is qualified as habitual felony offender and faces up to 30 years in state prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 15, according to the press release. Kimmons currently remains in custody at the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond.
