United Way Santa Rosa welcomes new director

Debra Baez, United Way Santa Rosa director

United Way of Santa Rosa (UWSR) recently named Debra Baez as operations and campaign director. Reporting directly to executive director, Guy Thompson, in this dual-role position she assists with day-to-day operations and manages the annual county-wide workplace giving campaign.

“I’m so excited and honored to join the United Way of Santa Rosa team. I love our ‘Give Where You Live’ message and look forward to working with our board, area charities, businesses, volunteers, interns and residents to help deliver essential opportunities, resources, and services to our community,” says Baez.

She is a business development professional and the former Nevada state chapter executive for the worldwide nonprofit Turnaround Management Association. Much of her career is divided between corporate management, entrepreneurship, and volunteerism.

Her experience includes positively impacting company bottom lines by focusing on leadership; team building; business and campaign development; marketing; brand-ambassadorship; training; and delivering excellent service levels.

In this capacity, she also designed, managed, or was directly involved with educational, employment, health, and fundraising projects for private sector, corporate, and nonprofit entities; some of which were United Way related.

Debra was appointed to serve on the Nevada Governor’s Workforce Investment Board, which oversaw the budget and activities of the state’s federally funded job assistance program. Other previous volunteer efforts include appointments to additional boards and donating time to community-focused nonprofit organizations. She is a resident of Gulf Breeze, Florida; graduate of Laboratory Institute of Merchandising in New York, New York; alumnus of an executive business education management program at Tuck School of Business at DartmouthCollege in Hanover, New Hampshire.
