Your vote matters

Dear Editor,

Before we know it election day will be upon us. My heart is saddened when I consider those eligible to vote may not, as in the past, apathy consumes them. I have just counted the number of Christian churches printed in two area papers. The total? Approximately 233. Wow. If all those church folks exercised their privilege to be informed and voted, America could have returned to God a long time ago, hence our current mess could have been avoided. As a lover of God and country, I plead with all, especially Christians, to get off their duffs and vote. Please do not perpetuate our nation’s sad state. I’m reminding us all what just one vote, our vote, can make. Consider the following information and do the riht thing, exercising your God-given right to vote.

  • In 1645 one vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England.
  • In 1649 one vote caused Charles I of England to be executed.
  • In 1776 one vote gave America the English language instead of German.
  • In 1845 one vote brought Texas into the Union.
  • In 1868 one vote saved President Andrew Johnson from being removed from office.
  • In 1875 one vote changed France from a monarchy to a republic.
  • In 1876 one vote gave Rutherford B. Hayes the Presidency of the United States
  • In 1923 one vote gave Adolf Hitler leadership of the Nazi party.

God Bless us all as only He can. Maranatha.
