Update on Garbage Truck fatality on Magnolia Street, Milton

Fire crew and Milton Fire Chief John Reble investigate a traffic fatality on Magnolia Street in Milton which happened at 7:10 a.m. Thursday morning.

A fatal two vehicle auto accident happened this morning on Magnolia Street in Milton involving a city garbage truck. The accident resulted in the death of a city temporary employee, Pat Wilcox, 34 of Milton. City officials said Wilcox worked through Labor Ready Employee Services and was assigned to Milton Public Works.

The accident happened around 7:10 a.m., officials said, and Wilcox was collecting road debris when he was pinned between the back of the garbage truck and another vehicle which was headed east on Magnolia. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Lifeguard helicopter took the driver of the other vehicle to a local hospital. Skyline, NAS Whiting Field and Milton Fire Department were on the scene. The Milton Police Department is investigating the accident and subsequent death.
